[CENTRAL CALIFORNIA]
Come join us on the road as we drive up through the Central Valley and down the coast on this “road trip of service”. In exploring how different cities address hunger, we will be serving at shelters, tending community gardens, and diving for food. Food insecurity affects health and wellness in low-income and homeless individuals and families. In serving to help improve the lives of other Californians, we hope this road trip will encourage participants to look at food with a new perspective and inspire them to get involved with UCLA student-run service projects and support Los Angeles’s own community organizations.
Cost: $100
MEET YOUR SITE LEADERS!
——————————————
Ciao a tutti! My name is Emory and I’m a third year Italian and Special Fields, Film and Television major. I love coffee. This upcoming year I will be co-site leaders with Savtaj. We met on the AB San Juan, TX site this past year as participants and we are excited to be heading our own site this year. I strongly encourage you to apply for Alternative Breaks! This program allows undergraduate students from different fields of studies to meet, educate and understand the site issue, and bond during a week of service with each other.
*The only thing I will have on the entire trip is coffee.

Hey there, future Alternative Breakers! I’m Savannah AKA Savtaj and am honored to be an AB Site Leader this year! I’m a second year Environmental Science and Political Science double major, with a minor in Civic Engagement–so basically I’m never going to graduate. I’m pretty involved with food and social justice on campus, but mainly spend my time being ridiculous and drinking coffee. Occasionally, I go to Fetty Wap concerts and the Hammer Museum Water talks. Have faith in me and Emory (more faith in Emory) and join us for a week of studying hunger like no one has before.
*The only thing I will have on the entire trip is coffee.
