Best Friend’s animal sanctuary is located in Kanab, Utah, housing and rehabilitating more than 2,000 homeless dogs, cats, horses, pigs and goats. Volunteers will spend the week long trip attending tours, lectures, and working on various projects. Activities include making beds for pigs, building homes for cats, and bird-proofing homes. In addition, volunteers will have the opportunity to house a dog overnight and hike the scenic canyons nearby.

My name is Cindy, and I am a third year pre-vet student unofficially majoring in applied mathematics. This year, I’m serving as co-executive director for the mentorship organization, Latinas Guiding Latinas. I’ve been volunteering at animal shelters in LA since high school and feel it is important to protect the welfare of all sentient beings. This year, I’ll be leading the site to Kanab, Utah, and I’m especially excited for the impact it can have on volunteers without any animal welfare experience.
